  • Military readines à la CTP..?

One thing about Call To Power I liked, was the military readynes concept. There was a slider, with which you could set you readyness, and spending, to one of four settings, from "Stand Down" to "At War". Lower setting would cost you less money, but the units would have less hitpoints, they appear damaged, in game terms, as the guys doing the fighting are in reserve, enjoying life. Crank the setting to wartime, and they are called back to their units, and prepare for a fight. The units "heal" back to full strength.

Could Civ4's engine handle such concept? Could AI handle it? Would it be possible to get a warning like "Montezuma is mobilizing..."?

And would it be hard to mod with current tools?
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

The game engine could easily handle this concept.

The AI could probably handle it if you automated some of the settings, such as automatically setting the slider to 'Wartime' for a given civ when THAT civ declares war (but not when someone attacks them, allowing players to catch civs 'with their trousers down').

Sending warnings would probably be the easiest part of the whole mod to code.

I wouldn't like to say how hard it would be to mod, off the top of my head, but I know it can be done with the current tools, and the difficulty shouldn't be affected much by the available tools.

I like this idea, and remember what you're talking about. This mod is beyond my abilities but I'd sure love to see it created, and use it.

Too bad it wasn't already included in the Warlords expansion. It seems like a perfect addition to a war-oriented expansion.
One of these days I'll make 501 posts, and you won't have to look at my silly little diplomat anymore.
